Lights Out On Beaches

Posted by: AJ Kennedy

Campaign: How do we promote tourism around preserving sea turtles in their natural environments?

Apparently by minimizing beach lighting protect sea turtles. The moon’s natural lighting guides sea turtle hatchlings and nesting females, so walking on the beach at night with flashlights or leaving on beach house lighting can disorient turtles. Turn off your exterior lighting, keep blinds shut, and place red cellophane on flashlights when walking on the beach at night. There could be a program called \"Lights Out On Beaches\" where people turn lights down or off to protect sea turtles, to remind everyone how endangered the turtles are.
